The Olympics: A catalyst for urban renewal? This morning at the NLA, four years on, we discussed the effect of London 2012 on London’s strategic planning and development. Khaa believes that the delivery of a vision that included infrastructure, placemaking, jobs, housing and culture in East London has set the tone and confidence for London’s ongoing response to the capital’s population growth. The development of Opportunity Areas and the approach to developing brownfield sites on an ambitious scale across London is a sign of confidence in the public sector to work with the private sector to deliver a strategic approach – not just a piecemeal set of development proposals.
