Ideas Competition Shortlist Announced

Five shortlisted entries in the ‘ShopSmart on Redchurch’ ideas competition have been announced today.

Submissions from Žilvinas Stasiuleviius, Anna Janiak Studio, Spacehub, Tomos Design + Studio Yu, and a collaboration between Martin Richman, EPR Architects and Waymap were selected from over forty entries.

The open competition, run by Khaa on behalf of onRedchurch – a partnership of local businesses, residents and landlords – tasked competitors with examining connections between retail technology and the public realm, and envisioning how this would bring character, activity, community and economic success to the street.

Sir Peter Cook, renowned architect, lecturer and writer, chairs the selection panel. He commented: “The entries all had a good level of graphic communication and the expected combination of clever tricks. The panel were able to identify five projects that offered very different goals – ranging from the strategic to the decorative. Now comes the really interesting stage in which we will interview the authors of all five to find the winner; a project that really will set Redchurch Street alight.”

The five shortlisted teams will receive an honorarium of £1,000 and the overall winner will be announced 02 December 2019.
