04 Sep Oxford-Cambridge Link Competition Shortlist
A team comprising Kay Hughes, Jennifer Ross (Tibbalds), Annalie Riches (Mikhail Riches), Sarah Featherstone (Featherstone Young and Petra Marko of (Marko&Placemakers) have been shortlisted in the National Infrastructure Commission’s (NIC) ideas competition for an Oxford-Cambridge link.
The team are one of four selected from 58 entries, and are the only all-woman team to have been shortlisted. Hughes spoke further on this point, telling BD Online that she thought entering as a team was “a really strong statement”, as infrastructure is often perceived to be a male dominated field.
The NIA will use the designs produced by the finalists in a report to the government later this year. They are looking for solutions to maximise the potential of the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford corridor, a 130-mile stretch that encompasses the north and west of London’s green belt and one of the UK’s leading growth regions.
